April 2025 — Party Bowls
Conclusion — Absolutely yes.
These were an amazing challenge for myself. I have not really made anything this wide before, let alone something that has an inner and an outer wall. Sure I have made plates, but those are not more than 9 inches. The first of these chip and dip bowls that I made were too wide at the rim to trim on my wheel head. I had to take them over to the co op studio I work out of to get them cleaned up. I made the subsequent bowls a bit smaller. I made a total of 5 of these during April. One of them unfortunately had a small s crack develop during the glaze firing - happy accident for me and my husband because the option was to trash it — add it to the pile of failed/broken pieces that we are turning into stepping stones for our garden, or keep it because the crack was superficial and did not effect the functional side of the piece— so we kept it… duh. We are a chips and queso/salsa household and we probably use it weekly now. I have also used it for “girl dinner” peanut butter in the center bowl with celery sticks and apple sliced around. Cute and super practical.
These will definitely remain in rotation.
